A private university in Ankara, capital of Turkey, where the founders of ERSTE graduated. Erste Yazilim, is also located on the campus of Bilkent University. Almost all our IT developers are graduates of Bilkent.
The name of the university is an acronym from the words “bilim kenti” which in Turkish means “city of science and knowledge” and is the aim of the universities founder.
This university was founded in 1984 by İhsan Doğramacı. İhsan studied medicine in Istanbul and specialized in pediatrics. He was a member of many international organizations such as the World Health Organization and UNICEF, published over 100 articles in professional journals and received numerous awards.
Bilkent University today has more than 13,000 students in nine faculties.
A total of 23 Turkish universities are represented in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. In 2010/2011, the university ranked 112 worldwide, making it the best in Turkey. In the ranking for 2014/15, it was ranked 201-225 worldwide and thus fifth among Turkish universities. Meanwhile Bilkent holds the 3rd place of the best Turkish universities. Bilkent is particularly outstanding in the field of IT and computer technology.
Fun fact of one of our developers: He said the university is known for having many rich students and is probably the only Turkish university where it is not unlikely that two Ferraris will collide.
